 Unit Information

The Oral Surgery Unit is made up of specialists with extensive experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery, specialists in oral health and in pediatric and juvenile dentistry. They have at their disposal the most advanced means of diagnosis and treatment in the field.

The unit diagnosis and treats diseases of the mouth and jaw, tumors and congenital and acquired deformities of the oral cavity, jaws and facial bones.

Most of the services provided by the Unit cannot be obtained in a regular dental clinic. Therefore, the unit frequently advises and works with dentists in the north.

Since its inception in 1999, the Unit has treated hundreds of patients who suffered from urgent and complicated situations requiring complex surgical procedures under local or general anesthesia.

The Unit operates as an outpatient clinic together with the ambulatory surgery unit, the operating rooms and hospital wards.

In an emergency, please contact the hospital emergency medicine room.

Areas of expertise include:

  • Oral and maxillofacial surgery
  • Surgical treatments of the oral cavity, face and jaw
  • Teeth extractions, apicoectomy (root end surgery), pre-surgery rehabilitation and treatment of infections
  • Dental implants, bone grafts and raising sinuses
  • Treatment for deformities of the face and jaw
  • Treatment for dental trauma and facial bones

The clinic for joint disorders (TMJ): Diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases of the jaw joint and facial pain.

Oral medicine: Detection and treatment oral mucosal diseases, salivary gland dysfunction and orofacial pain conditions.

Dental care for patients with complex medical problems: High-risk patients who cannot undergo regular dental treatment are treated in the Unit. Dental treatment for patients suffering from dental anxiety or patients with mental or physical limitations can be given treatment under general anesthesia, sedation or partial sedation.

Pediatric dentistry: For children who do not cooperate with a regular dentist, whether due to the need for multiple treatments or due to their young age, treatment is offered in the pediatric unit under general anesthesia or mild sedation.
