 Department Information


The Department treats a variety of patients with acute and chronic illnesses and also patients that are candidates for elective surgery. The Department excels in medical services and quality nursing care, with an emphasis on a relaxed atmosphere and personal attention to patients and their families alike.

The Department consults regularly with neurologists, radiologists, the Department of Nuclear Medicine and the Department of Pathology as well as physicians from other departments, depending on the needs of the patients. The Department handles about 250-300 new patients per month and approximately 4,000 patients a year.

Consultation with a senior physician and nurse: 13:00 – 14:00 to be coordinated with the department secretary.
Visiting hours: Sun. – Thur. between 12:00 – 14:00 and 16:00 – 21:00


 Information for the Patient

On admission: 

  • The nurse will record all personal information and the doctor will record all medical information. 
  • During admission, you will be asked about your medical history, previous injuries or illnesses and any medications you may be taking. 
  • If you have any medical documents, x-rays, letters of referral, test results – please give them to the medical team.

Meal time:

Breakfast – 08:00; Lunch – 12:00; Tea time – 16:00; Dinner – 18:00

Distress call button:

Next to each bed and in the bathroom there is a distress call button.


We suggest that you do not bring valuables with you. If you do find yourself with valuables, you may check them into the hospital safe. Please contact the nurse in charge.

When hospitalized: 

  • It is prohibited to leave the Medical Center without permission. If you wish to walk outside the department, please notify the nursing staff of your intentions. 
  • During hospitalization, cleanliness and quiet should be maintained. Additionally, smoking is prohibited in all areas of the Medical Center.

Multidisciplinary staff:

Physiotherapists, dietitians, social workers and psychologists are available for consultation. Please coordinate with the department staff.

Admission to the department:

Emergency cases that arrive via the ER are admitted on the odd day number of the calendar. On other days admission is done via the Department of Internal Medicine A.


Discharge from the department is done by the admissions office. A letter of discharge is given between 14:00 and 16:00 only after the latest test results are obtained and following final patient examination.
